At teamLab Planets TOKYO, you walk barefoot through a series of digital art rooms where light, sound, water, flowers, and your own movements shape what you see. Allow about two hours, arrive within 30 minutes of your timed entry, and wear trousers that roll above the knee.

At Samurai Ninja Museum TOKYO in Asakusa, you will learn about ninja tools and Japanese history, put on a ninja outfit, practice with stars, darts, and a blowpipe, then join a treasure hunt and photo session. The 75-minute activity suits children over three and adults.

Visit the Ghibli Museum in Mitaka with time to explore on your own, after a buffet lunch at Hotel Gajoen Tokyo and a walk through the Edo-Tokyo Open Air Architectural Museum. A guide such as Mika, Michiko, or Yoko provides context between stops, while round-trip coach transport removes the ticket and train-planning hassle.

At the Samurai Ninja Museum in Asakusa, you’ll wear a hakama, learn basic iaido with a replica sword, pose for photos, and join a guided samurai and ninja session. Guides including Ryo, Akira, Hector, Leon, Ren, and Koki may lead different parts of the visit. Confirm current sword rules before booking.
“There was no tour of the history museum (which is extremely small) as advertised. We were curious to find out about the Samurai history but were told nothing. The photos in Samurai costumes were a bit silly and not taken professionally due to the nature of the background and quality of the costumes. The actual sword cutting was a good and interesting experience. However, a lot of waiting around for the rest of the group to have individual turns and the group was too big.”
In Asakusa, you’ll dress in hakama, armor, and helmet, learn a katana routine with an English-speaking instructor such as Ryo or Koki, tour samurai and ninja displays, pose for photos, and try ninja weapons. The experience lasts two hours, welcomes up to 16 people, and excludes children under six.

At Ginza Mitsukoshi, watch goldfish glide through theatrical tanks shaped by light, music, and scent. This self-guided visit takes about 30 minutes to an hour and offers a modern Edo-period art experience. Photography is welcome, but tripods, strobes, and extra lighting are not allowed.

At Kamigata Ukiyo-e Museum, choose a beginner, intermediate, or advanced course and print 3 to 4 colors onto Japanese paper using original woodblocks. An English or Japanese instructor guides you through painting, baren rubbing, and pressure. You leave with your print in a clear souvenir file.

She clearly enjoys what she does and sharing her knowledge with others. Highly recommend visiting this museum both for the art displays and the print making workshop.”
Meet Hiro at Sekitomioka Station and spend the day with knife makers Sumi and Yoshi. Choose, polish, engrave, assemble, sharpen, and test a Damascus kitchen knife, then enjoy Japanese lunch and visit a swordsmith museum. The small group is limited to five people.

It's the first time we visited Japan, so even the road there felt special and contrasting to a busy city. Hiro-san met us at the station and brought us to the knife museum.
