“Amazing experience with a great husband and wife team. You get a quick run-through of samurai history and then you’ll get fully suited up for a hands on lesson. It’s a good workout as you progress through strikes, combinations, and counters with the footwork to match. After the lesson you’re welcomed to challenge the sensei, I highly recommend asking for a full speed match to appreciate his skill. Afterwards the hosts were kind enough to share some snacks and recommendations for our remaining time in Japan.”

She encouraged questions and explained everything in a succinct way. The tea ceremony was intricate and delightful, we tried Japanese sweets, and loved making our own matcha tea. The calligraphy was so much fun, we learned a lot and we have some beautiful souvenirs to bring home. We highly recommend this tour experience!”

“I had a truly wonderful time at the calligraphy experience. The experience at Saishoji Temple was calming, and it was very refreshing to experience the state of "nothingness." The time to move the brush slowly and concentrate was truly luxurious, and I'm grateful to have been able to experience it in Shinsaibashi, away from the hustle and bustle. I participated alone, but it was a time of quiet self-reflection, and it's a wonderful memory. I found this service on Viator and highly recommend it. I would definitely recommend it to anyone looking for a spiritually cleansing experience.”
